Excavator Construction

Earth Moving equipment are also known as construction equipment or engineering vehicles or heavy equipment. They are extremely huge and heavy machines and are a combination of four or five machines. A major advantage of using earth-moving equipments is that they perform different kinds of functions at a time. Earth moving equipments constitute five basic systems, namely implementation, traction, control, power train and structure. Majority of these equipments operate using hydraulics and power transfers.

There are a variety of Earth moving equipments and tools such as:

• Backhoe- Backhoe is an equipment used in excavation and is mainly used for digging the earth. It has a digging bucket attached at its end which is in turn attached to the back of a tractor.

• Road Roller- A road roller is used to construct the foundations of roads. It is used to compact soil, asphalt, concrete & gravel and to compress the surface on which it is rolled.

• Hydraulic Hammer- The hydraulic hammer is used to demolish concrete structures or rocks.

• Pile Driver – Pile driver is an engineering device that is used to drive piles into the soil. The process of pile driving is used to make the foundations of constructions or to strengthen buildings.

• Excavator Bucket- Excavator bucket refers to a bucket-like tool which is attached to a heavy vehicle and is used for scooping waste, soil and such other materials.

• Grapple -Grapple is a machine which has a hook or a claw and can be attached to other heavier vehicles or machines.

• Crane- Crane refers to a lifting machine which when attached to a simple device like a rake or a bucket can lift or move heavy loads. Cranes are generally used to lift construction waste, soil, debris etc.

• Drilling Machine-Drilling machines are huge equipments used to drill wells or holes in the earth. They are typically used to drill oil or water wells.

• Bulldozer-A bulldozer is a heavy earth moving equipment used to move huge quantities of soil, rubble, construction material, sand, etc.

• Feller Buncher- Feller Buncher is an equipment used for cutting and logging trees.
